From Signal Overload to Total Control: HFUT’s Successful 5G Exam Hall Jamming Solutions

1. Background of the 5G Exam Signal Jamming Project at Hefei University of Technology

Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) is a national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is jointly supported by the Ministry of Education, the Anhui Provincial Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. The university is part of China’s “Double First-Class Initiative,” the “Project 211,” and the “Project 985 Innovative Platforms for Key Disciplines.”

The Tunxi Road Campus of HFUT is located in the urban area of Hefei, where numerous cellular base stations create a strong external signal environment. The university’s previously purchased signal jammers did not perform effectively, prompting HFUT to request a new solution from Dexinkang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. On December 7, 2020, Dazhan Electronic successfully completed the delivery of 200 sets of 5G exam-hall signal jammers, fully meeting the university’s technical and operational requirements.

N-14-120W Working Principle

Mobile communication relies on a network of base stations that transmit signals to mobile phones and relay communication data. Phones maintain connectivity by continuously receiving these signals. When the N-14-120W jammer emits interference on the same frequency bands, mobile phones are unable to receive valid signals from nearby base stations. This disrupts the communication link, preventing devices from making or receiving calls, sending messages, or accessing mobile data—thereby achieving effective signal blocking.
