Custom Smart IoT Mobile Signal Jammer: Ensuring Safe and Disruption-Free Campus at Ningbo Institute of Technology

Project Background

Jianghuai University in Hefei, a private undergraduate university hosted by Anhui University, undertakes highly confidential exams, including foreign language and graduate entrance tests. Existing signal jamming equipment is outdated and cannot prevent 5G mobile devices from compromising exam integrity. To safeguard exam security, the university procured N-14-120W mobile phone signal jammers from Shenzhen Dexinkang Electronic Technology Co., LTD.

Risks of Unrestricted Mobile Phone Use

Unrestricted mobile phone usage in exam halls can cause:

  • Information Leakage: Test content, student data, or confidential administrative information can be transmitted in real time.

  • Operational Disruption: Electromagnetic interference disrupts concentration and order.

  • Criminal Exploitation: Phones can be used to trigger explosives, coordinate illicit activities, or conduct cyber-attacks.

These risks are covert, hard to detect, and can seriously damage institutional credibility and public safety.

Product Description–N-14-120W Mobile Phone Signal Jammer

The N-14 mobile phone signal jammer generates specific electromagnetic signals to restrict mobile phone usage within a defined area (e.g., 10–150 square meters in the absence of nearby base stations) without affecting non-targeted areas. The device is harmless to humans and does not interfere with other electronic equipment.

The N-14 series is designed for indoor and outdoor environments, providing precise coverage through targeted electromagnetic emission.

N-14-120W Working Principle

Mobile communication relies on a network of base stations that transmit signals to mobile phones and relay communication data. Phones maintain connectivity by continuously receiving these signals. When the N-14-120W jammer emits interference on the same frequency bands, mobile phones are unable to receive valid signals from nearby base stations. This disrupts the communication link, preventing devices from making or receiving calls, sending messages, or accessing mobile data—thereby achieving effective signal blocking.

Product Structure

The N-14 series is simple in design, featuring a power switch and indicator light, and operates on AC 220V input.

Installation of N-14-120W Mobile Phone Signal Jammer

  1. Power Supply
The devices can be powered either through a unified wiring system or by using existing electrical outlets. Using a unified wiring system allows the main switch to be centrally located for convenient control of all units.

  2. Installation Methods
The installation positions are mainly divided into central placement and facing placement:

  • Central Placement: Place the jammer in any corner of the room, with the front of the device facing the center of the area to be shielded. Once powered on, the device begins operation. For example, it can be positioned at points A, B, C, or D within the room, such as point B. Ensure there are no obstacles between the corner and the center of the room. During the initial setup, two operators are recommended: one adjusts the device’s direction and knobs at point B, while the other tests signal coverage with a mobile phone at point D. If point D is covered, other areas are generally covered as well.

Method 1: Based on Angle

  • Central placement layout diagram

Facing Placement

Method 2: Based on Area

  • Example 1: Small indoor space (<150 m²)
    One device is usually sufficient.

  • Example 2: Large indoor space (>150 m²)
Multiple devices should be deployed to ensure full coverage.

  • Example 3: Large outdoor space (>1000 m²)
Multiple units arranged in a honeycomb pattern provide the best coverage and performance.

Precautions

  • The effective coverage area is circular around the device; proper placement is critical to avoid blind spots.
  • Install the jammer in ventilated areas, avoiding large obstacles, heat sources, or strong electromagnetic sources.
  • Keep the device upright, do not stack items on top, and do not remove antennas.
  • Turn off the device when not in use to allow normal mobile phone operation.
  • For outdoor use, ensure proper waterproofing.
  • For areas exceeding a single jammer’s coverage, use multiple devices in a honeycomb arrangement.
  • Protect the device from corrosive gases, liquids, dust, and moisture.
  • Outdoor installations should include safeguards against rodents, ants, or other destructive animals.

Determining Number of Units Based on Signal Strength

In signal environments between -75 dB and -90 dB, one N-14-120W unit covers 200 m² outdoors and 150 m² indoors.
In signal environments above -75 dB, coverage cannot be pre-determined; field testing is required due to nearby base station proximity.
