The Problem
Drones in stadiums pose serious safety risks to spectators, athletes, and staff. Falling drones can cause injuries, while drones carrying hazardous or prohibited items—such as smoke, fireworks, weapons, or drugs—can introduce additional threats. Unauthorized drones equipped with cameras may also compromise tactical information, celebrity privacy, or sensitive commercial activities.
Beyond safety, drones can severely disrupt stadium operations. Intrusions may interrupt games or events, interfere with broadcast and media coverage, and create panic among the crowd, complicating crowd management. These incidents can lead to delays, event cancellations, or even evacuations, resulting in financial losses and reputational damage for organizers.
