2024 How Do New Anti-drone Weapon Effectively Work in Paris Olympic Venues?

Paris 2024 Olympic Venues Intercepting "Six Drones Per Day"

French security forces intercept an average of six drones per day to protect Paris Olympic venues, according to Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

Attal reminded the public and visitors that drone flights are strictly prohibited, and any unauthorized drones will be intercepted, with their operators facing arrest. Additionally, during the opening ceremony on Friday evening, the airspace within a 150 km radius of Paris will be fully restricted.

On July 21, several incidents occurred near the Olympic Village, including the arrest of the communications head of the Brazilian delegation for flying a drone. Reports indicate that the French government has invested €350 million in counter-drone systems. They utilize laser technology for mitigation and interference.

On July 23, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued a notice warning drone pilots of restrictions related to the Olympics. The notice advised, "As the Paris Olympics draw near, and with numerous sporting events happening across France, EASA reminds drone operators to avoid flying near large public events." The notice included a link to France's airspace restrictions and the risks of flying drones during such events.
